Supported Photo Types

ToonyStory accepts JPG, PNG, and HEIC photos. For best results:

• Resolution: At least 500×500 pixels (most phone photos work great)
• File size: Up to 10 MB per photo
• Format: Front-facing, well-lit, clear view of the face

How to Upload

1. Go to your Dashboard and click "New Character" or edit an existing one
2. Click the photo upload area or drag and drop a photo
3. The photo will process automatically — you'll see a preview in seconds

Photo Tips for Best Results

Do

• Use natural lighting (outdoors or near a window)
• Keep the face unobstructed — no sunglasses, masks, or hats
• Use a recent photo that looks like the person currently does
• Smile! Happy expressions make the best illustrations

Don't

• Use blurry or dark photos
• Use heavy filters or edited photos
• Use group photos — crop to one person per photo
• Use photos with faces turned sideways

Managing Photos

You can update a character's photo at any time from the character edit screen. The new photo will be used for all future books — previously generated books keep their original illustrations.

Troubleshooting

Photo won't upload?

• Check the file size (max 10 MB)
• Try a different format (JPG usually works best)
• Make sure you have a stable internet connection

Character doesn't look right?

• Try a different photo with better lighting
• Use a photo where the face is clearly visible and front-facing
