The Story Behind Toony Story

How We Started

Toony Story started the way most good ideas do — as new parents. When our son Kai was born, we wanted a bedtime story where he was the main character. Not a generic cartoon with his name swapped in — a real, consistent character that actually looked like him on every single page.

Existing personalized-book services fell short. Characters looked different from one page to the next, the art felt flat, and there was no way to include the rest of the family. We knew we could do better.

So we built Toony Story — a platform that transforms a single photo into a movie-quality 3D-animated character and keeps that character perfectly consistent throughout an entire hardcover book. Add the rest of the family as co-stars, pick a story, and have a museum-quality book on your doorstep in days.

Who We Are

We're Morgan and Haley Kotter, the husband-and-wife team behind Toony Story. Morgan handles the engineering and AI side, Haley brings the creative vision, and our son Kai is the world's most demanding quality-assurance tester. We run Toony Story through our company Modlific LLC out of Utah.

We use Toony Story with our own family, and that's the standard we hold every book to. If it's not something we'd proudly put on Kai's bookshelf, it doesn't ship.
