Character Consistency
Understanding how ToonyStory keeps characters looking consistent across pages
How Character Consistency Works
ToonyStory uses advanced AI to learn each character's facial features from their photo. This model is then used to generate every illustration, ensuring your child looks recognizable on every page.
Getting the Best Consistency
Upload Quality Photos
The single biggest factor in consistency is photo quality. A clear, well-lit, front-facing photo gives the AI the best reference to work from.
What Affects Consistency
| Factor | Impact |
|---|---|
| Lighting quality | High — good lighting = better face detail |
| Face angle | High — front-facing is ideal |
| Photo resolution | Medium — at least 500×500px |
| Facial obstructions | High — avoid sunglasses, hats |
| Background clutter | Low — AI focuses on the face |
Try Different Photos
If a character isn't looking quite right, try uploading a different photo. Sometimes a slightly different angle or expression gives the AI a better reference.
What to Expect
- Characters will look like a cartoon version of the person — not a photorealistic copy
- Minor variations between pages are normal and add to the hand-illustrated feel
- Hair color, skin tone, and key features will remain consistent
- Clothing will vary based on the story's setting and scenes
Known Limitations
- Very young babies (under 6 months) may have less distinctive features to work with
- Dramatic lighting (heavy shadows, colored lights) in the source photo can affect results
- Photos with heavy filters applied may produce less accurate results
