How Credits Work

ToonyStory uses a credit system. Artwork costs credits. Words are free.

What costs a credit

• Drawing an illustration costs 1 credit per picture. A six-spread book plus a front and back cover is 8 credits to draw once.
• Editing an illustration costs 1 credit per attempt. Every time the art is repainted, that is a credit, whether or not the result is what you wanted.
• Creating a video costs credits for the video generation.
• Ordering prints can have credits applied toward the order.

What is free

• Writing and rewriting your story text
• Creating, renaming and adjusting characters
• Changing layout, fonts, text colour and text placement
• Moving, adding and removing pages

If an edit misses, the next attempt is free

Tell us it missed, using the "report a problem" option on the illustration or by saying so to the in-app assistant, and your next attempt at that fix does not cost a credit. You have to report it: we cannot tell a picture you did not want from one you did.

Getting Credits

• Free credits: every new account gets free credits to try ToonyStory
• Credit packs: purchase additional credits from the Pricing page
• Referral bonus: earn credits when friends sign up with your link

Credit Expiration

Different credit types expire under different rules:

• Paid Credit packs (one-time purchases) do not currently expire while your account is in good standing.
• Subscription credits (the monthly allotment included with a paid plan) are tied to your active subscription. Unused subscription credits are forfeited if you cancel, downgrade, or revert to the free tier. They also don't roll over from one month to the next.
• Promotional, bonus, and referral credits may expire at our discretion.

Free Trial

Your free credits let you create your first storybook at no cost. This gives you a full experience (create characters, generate a book, and share it) before deciding to purchase more credits.
